Installing Composite Deck Floor
Composite decks are made from different elements; the most common is a mixture of wood and plastic products. Decks can be moulded in several colours and stimulated textures. They also contain features that allow you to eliminate the need for painting while providing the look of real wood. Accordingly, the material can be an ideal option for home flooring. You can can cut and shape it to look like regular wood. Here is how you can install composite deck flooring at home.
The first step is to lay the composite material across your target surface. You can use a measuring tape to ensure that it overhangs the edge of the deck by an inch. When cutting the board, use a circular saw to avoid damage and ensure a clean cut. The next part is to drill holes for screws and place the board into position. An electric drill and a counter sink tool is need for this task. In addition, holes must be one inch from the edges of the composite panel. Secure the screws properly when attaching the deck boards and ascertain that the boards are connected to the joists. Do the same process for the next row of boards and leave a 1/8 inch gap between sides. Make it a point to stagger the joints so that they do not fall on the same deck joist. Go on with the installation until the other side of the framework has been reached. Once you are done with the flooring, check if there any notches and survey if the deck boards are already positioned with proper clearance. Lastly, finish the edges with sandpaper to ensure its smoothness.
